Trav System Update 19a - Need to look at the process

Realizing I needed to get more data in there so I can continue to work in creating the system generation, I noticed something odd from the table. But in thinking about it, perhaps you roll once for the presence, then once for the quantity. Yeah, that must be it (it has been years since I went through Book 6 system generation. I have been spoiled by using Heaven & Earth. For at least 15 years now - I keep the installer on a cloud drive. Amazing it has worked since Windows XP I think. One of the advantages of Windows - they tend to be a lot more backwards compatible than Macs. Of course, Macs also have their strong points. I use Windows, Macs, Linux and like all of them really. One of the reasons I still edit with vi - it is available everywhere!)

But I digress, and this is only a 19a update as all I did was adjust the column headers on the system features table so that it fit better. At least on my screen. But the question I was wondering when entering the data is that we can have a no in the gas giant or belt column, but still have a non-zero value. Then, d'oh, you must roll separately! I am old and sometimes slow, but I do catch on eventually!

And just in case you may be wondering why I am having to enter data vs just coding it all in: I really think everyone should be able to tweak things. Yeah, a lot of work to set up but then it allows for a lot more flexibility. 

Rob Eaglestone has also released Imperiallines 9. I did get it, have the others, and one of these days will really try to read them. There is a game buried in T5, I just have to find it! And I do want to try & run it one of these days.

Anyway, being a 3-day weekend, hopefully I will get enough data in there to get another few steps into the system generation process. My next goal is to get the primary stellar type and from that, set the main planet into the habitable zone of it is not a planetoid belt. But that also means linking the stellar types from the table to the stellar types table. Ideally, we'd actually use the stellar types table as a drop-down. So, I may have to do that & rewrite a few things. Else we have to match and as technically a professional, that is just sloppy and prone to user error. Which will require a DB migration or two. And take more time than you would think. But it is safer. And better. Dang, will need to add a few more stellar types to at least match the table above (and maybe adjust that table as well - I'll admit to not being an expert at stars!)

Oddly enough, my post on aging got a lot more direct hits for some reason. It was a bit of a downer but reality is what it is. I did remove the dead links on the blogs I follow at least. But as a lot of the places of origins for the blog seem off (usually they are other gaming blogs or sites), perhaps it just got caught up based on the subject or subject matter. Until recently Google was never on that list. And no idea about Sony!
