Character Challenge 8: Alien

As I am really leaning towards having the gas mining station be oddly empty, and odd spots where it looks like acid has eaten through the deck plates, I'm going to do a homebrew character for Space Gits.

The Glir are a species that have evolved to require hosts for their eggs. The hosts do not survive the gestation, which is very painful and rapidly fatal as well as messy for anyone nearby. They have 4 phases in their life cycles: youth which have barely any intelligence, young adults where intelligence suddenly comes upon them in a matter of a few years, adults that can procreate and lay eggs, and finally the elders that can no longer reproduce, but like Niven's Protectors, protect the younger ones with a heightened intelligence.

Their science has peaked at Traveller tech level 10 or so. Their ships transit the hypergates but few humans, or any other species has been inside the ships. Or at least come inside and been able to leave again.

The youth are mostly ignored by all the Glir: they are considered animals until they mature into adults. This part of their life cycle lasts about 10 years, with rapid growth. This is also the most dangerous phase as their saliva and blood is highly acidic. They are vicious and highly carnivorous. On their home world they are left to the wilds and those that come out with some intelligence are slowly acclimated to Glir society. And yes, there was another alien species like this I read, but cannot recall which book or books it was in.

Back at our station, however, a Glir ship had docked under an emergency: the elder was dying, but he had several eggs that needed hosts. The stations 52 employees were all eventually killed, and the young are still hungry. Kritch (closes to how it is pronounced) is in his ship, docked. He knows that his children cannot live their lives in the station - there is insufficient food for them. But he also cannot let them on his ship as they will eat him. But should another ship show up, perhaps he could get them to take the children to a planet. Of course, the crew won't survive the trip but if he can remote control the ship...

Kritch is an elder Glir, protective of his species. Over 2 meters tall, he is a dark-skinned alien. Highly intelligent, he will always try to aid his feral children. He has been tinkering on a remote-control device, based on the station's systems, that will allow him to remotely pilot a ship. He will just need to get it to the bridge and connect it to the ship's computer. When talking through his translator device, he has a suave, even voice that is soothing. His physical presence is sedate except when he has to move - he is faster than most humans. If he cannot talk his way into the ship, he will attempt force. But he also needs to avoid the young.
