Character Challenge 2023: 19/31 Traveller Belter

Not much time tonight so a quick Traveller character. 5B6675, and even so female. Hmm, mostly below average stats with the exception of dexterity. Book 1 gives a bonus for getting into the Army, and Supplement 4, belters and hunters get a bonus to get in. No one has any survival benefits for a high dexterity, and wow - belters need a 9+ to survive. That's worse than the Scouts, though you do get to add +1 per term you actually do survive. But do I have any minis that fit those? If I go through the few dozen of the 15mm scale ones (and I wonder if I ever actually used them?) there are several that fit. And for the Army I have a few 28mm scale ones that would work So, 3 options, and randomly come up with 4, so let's see if we can get into the Belters. As she gets a total of +3 to get in, she manages to get in. Also, Belters start at 14 - free term basically! Though I need to find that: it is a memory from decades ago/ Ahh - page 2 is where Belters & Barbarians start at age 14.

Term 1 (14-17)

Rolling a 9, she survives her first 4 years. The 9+ was really an 8+ as each term, including the 1st, counts as a DM. She gains Vacc Suit-1 automatically, and rolling down our tables, she will get 2 additional skills as there are no ranks for Belters. She picks up +1 dexterity for an UPP of 5C6675 and picks up Auto-Pistol-1 (note that all Classic Travellers have basically a 0-level skill in all weapons), so she can use all of them, and with her dexterity gains an additional bonus.

Term 2 (18...)

Well, she did not survive: a Belter's life is often a short one. Which means if you encounter Asa Jung and she is alive, she is probably under 20 and trying to make a living as a Belter. If she shows up as an NPC in a game, she will be the targeted one sadly.

Asa Jung, Belter 1+ terms

5C6675 age 18 to 21.
Vacc Suit-1, Auto-Pistol-1

Asa was born in raised in the belts, daughter in a small mining commune. She learned to quickly get her vacc suit on, and as with most belters. tends to be very aware of her surroundings. She is agoraphobic - comfortable in the close confines of ships, large stations and planets actually scare here almost to the point of a panic attack. One of her uncles taught her to use an auto-pistol and she proved quite adept. She had dreams of possibly shooting in subsector games, but her fear of open spaces proved too much, and she never would quite make it.

You may encounter Asa at a station or out in the belt, mining with her fellow belters. Still young, she follows the directions of her elders and while timid around strangers, around those she knows she is quite the talker.
